Somjen Frazer

President and Principal Consultant

Somjen Frazer is the founder, President and Principal Consultant at Strength In Numbers Consulting Group. She is the author of numerous peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and conference papers. She received her Master's Degree in Sociology from Oxford University and her BA from Cornell University. She was a Rhodes Scholar, Cornell Presidential Research Scholar, John Kenneth Galbraith Fellow in Inequality and Social Policy at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a Progressive Women’s Voices Media Fellow. Her areas of expertise include public health, criminal justice, gender and sexuality, civic and public engagement, and race relations. She has over ten years of experience conducting research and evaluation projects.

Jason Cianciotto

Adjunct Consultant

Jason Cianciotto has more than a decade of experience working with progressive nonprofits in policy advocacy, political analysis, organizational development, and executive management. A graduate of the University of Arizona with a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA), he conducted research and policy analysis on a variety of issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) populations while research Director of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force Policy Institute. As Executive Director of Wingspan, southern Arizona’s LGBT community center, he further developed expertise in the management of government-funded social service programs for diverse communities, board development and relations, nonprofit financial management, and state-level policy advocacy.

Cathy Roche

Senior Research Associate

Cathy Roche is a clinical and community psychologist with ten years of research and counseling experience in domestic violence and healthcare nonprofits. Cathy earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology at Swarthmore College and her Ph.D. in psychology at Georgia State University. Areas of particular interest include children and families, immigration, trauma recovery, and community collaboration. She has co-authored publications and given presentations in a number of venues, including the Handbook of US Latino Psychology and the Society for Community Research & Action Biennial Conference. Cathy grew up in several countries as the child of a diplomat and is fluent in Spanish and French.

Chloe Mirzayi

Junior Research Associate

Chloe Mirzayi graduated magna cum laude from Macalester College in Saint Paul, Minnesota and is currently a Masters in Pubic Health candidate at Columbia University. With a background in geography, she has extensive experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) as well as statistics, survey design, and interviewing. Previous research topics include transgender health and discrimination, volunteerism at the HIV services nonprofit Open Arms of Minnesota, the foreclosure crisis in Minneapolis, and how neighborhood structure affects obesity. Her scientific maps, charts, and articles have been featured in several publications including the journal Cities in the 21st Century. Chloe trained in advocacy and public policy as a Young People For Fellow and Drum Major Institute Scholar and as a Vaid Fellow at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. Honors include the Macalester Department of Multicultural Life Award and scholarships from the Philanthrofund Foundation for her commitment to social justice and leadership.

Nahima Ahmed

Junior Research Associate

Nahima Ahmed graduated Hunter College and is currently a Masters in Public Health candidate at the CUNY School of Public Health. With a background in psychology and epidemiology, she has extensive experience with epidemiological methodology, statistics, and survey design. Previous research topics include teen peer education programs and HIV, STI, substance & alcohol abuse prevention, relationship between parental health and children’s cognitive development among new immigrants, gender role perception among children in relation to exposure to major themes in fairy tales, professional medical education on physicians’ practice and knowledge, and web-based education on patients’ medical self efficacy. Nahima’s previous health non-profit positions at organizations like the Red Hook Community Justice Center and the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America have also given her experience in non-profit program administration, program creation/planning, program evaluation, and conducting needs assessments.
